A registered rent agreement is an agreement between the landlord and the tenant where terms are given for giving a premise on rent. This, in other words, mentions the deal about the rentals to be paid, time span, and responsibilities towards care and so on and so forth. Registration purports that it is a legal agreement and hence keeps the two parties under obligations with respect to a peaceful tenure without conflicts or disputes during tenancy. 

Documents required:

  • Property Ownership Proof

A copy of the property sale deed, Registration papers, property tax receipts or a copy of the Electricity Bill.

  • Photographs

Passport-size photos of both the landlord and the tenant.

  • Company Authorization Letter

If the lease is to be registered in the name of a company, then an authorization letter from the company shall be required.

  • Owner’s Address Proof

Enclose valid address proof of the property owner.

  • Tenant’s Address and ID Proof

Address of the tenant and identification proof- In India, Aadhaar is compulsory, and in the case of a foreigner, a passport is necessary.

  • Owner’s Address and ID Proof

Original Aadhaar card to be used as an address and ID proof of the owner.

  • Registration Fee

A Demand Draft for the registration fees should be provided.

  • Witnesses

The registration process has to be attested by two witnesses, and they must carry their original Aadhaar cards as proof of identity.

6-10 Years Lease Duration- 3 per cent

11-20 Years Lease Duration- 6 per cent
